Programme The daily interaction of human, animals and the environment has a dramatic impact on public health. Recent events have made zoonotic diseases hit the headlines. The BSE, SARS and Avian influenza (H5N1) viruses carried by animal have led to new and emerging diseases. Effective control of zoonotic and other livestock diseases would mean a decreased mortality and morbidity and increased livestock production helping poverty alleviation and increased food supply for the large number of rural poor countrywide thereby contributing substantially towards achieving integrated rural development. To achieve this we have to emphasize links between livelihood development, nutrition, food security and food safety. The goals of the conference are to increase the Veterinary community's understanding of Veterinary public health needs and varied roles to be played by Veterinarians, to provide them an opportunity to gain insight into current issues in Veterinary medicine as well as the public health prospective and to provide a forum for discussion on ways to increase partnerships between the Medical and Veterinary communities, researchers and public health officials to meet the critical public health needs. The Global Meet will be held over three days and will cover topics of current interests and for future development of Veterinary- Public Health in World. THEME AND SCOPE The Global Meet will be the most important and biggest Veterinary-Public Health event of the year in World. The theme of the Global Meet is New Horizons in Food Security with special reference to Veterinary-Public Health & Hygiene-Evolving Strategies with Global Perspective. ACTIVITIES Renowned speakers will address the Global Meet in a series of invited speakers and concurrent session. Round Tables, Continued Education Programme and Poster Session would be part of the symposium.
